Photosynthesis lab
Hypothesis:
The leaves uncovered will produce the most starch, while the leaves covered with red will produce the next most. Black will produce the least.
Purpose:
To find out if wavelengths and intensity of light affect the amount of photosynthesis that occurs in a leaf.
Procedure:
1) Make a hypothesis
-wavelength
-intensity
-give reasoning
2) Cut off experimental leaves and then roll them up and put them in the test tube
-label
3) I will extract chlorophyll with a hot water bath
4) Rinse in water, place in petrie dish
5) Cover with Iodine
6) After 1 minute, remove and place on paper towel

-black paper -pipets -Sharpie
-cellophane (red) -Iodine -2 plants
-Petrie dishes -Sissors -test tubes

Reflection:
In the data we have recorded I have concluded that the leaves covered in the red cellophane produced the most starch. The leaves that were not covered produced the next most. The least amount of starch produced was the leaves that were covered wight the black paper. I was surprised when I saw that the leaves covered in cellophane produced more starch than the uncovered leaves. Most of our group thought that the uncovered leaves would produce the most starch. However, our group was not surprised when we saw that the leaves were covered in black paper produced the least amount of starch.
