BUILD A MUSICAL BAND
For this project I was in a group with Jake and Jonathan. Ou goal was to create three different types of instruments. We needed to make three instruments; one from the wind instrument family, and also one each from the string and chime family. All of these instruments have to be in usable conditions. Each instrument had to be able to play a hole octave of notes. We were also asked to write a song and perform it for our STEM class at the ribbon cutting ceremony for our passive solar home.

Reflection: Making these instruments really showed me how hard it is to make things that some people take for granted. I really liked making these instruments because working with the frequencies and wavelengths. It showed me that you can't just make a flute by drilling evenly spaced hole along a pipe. I liked discovering the physics behind music.
Making these instruments was fun. we also had many pitfalls and peaks. One problem we had was communication. On the first day we all said we were going to bring something, and the next day we all forgot to do it. Another problem was that our first guitar broke and we had to totally restart. We also had trouble with the clarinet. At first, we did not know where to place the hole and we tried to guess and check but that didn't work. Then, we eventually found the distances to drill the holes.
Overall this project was fun and I learned a lot about and my patients. I got frustrated at time because our guitar string kept loosening as we played it. During this project I had a good time creating three working instruments.
